Never bought a set of headers before and I find 2 types of headers available one being a wheel well exit and one a frame exit. Only one manufacturer has a "frame exit."
Am I correct in my assumption the "frame style" would allow the usage of the stock exhaust system if wanted? The "wheel well" style would require the exhaust to run on the outside of the frame rails (unless some fancy bends were made to connect to the original exhaust?)
You are mostly correct in your assumptions.Even with the frame exit you can expect to make some alterations to existing exhaust. The wheel well exit may not work with stock lift. I cant confirm this 100% but that is what it looked like when I shopped for some. Also have to trim the inner fender liners for wheel well exit. Possibly alter brake lines drivers side. I would sell you the set I have on my 78 for about $3,500, but the Bronco goes with them.
