5 speed auto
got an o4 350 4x4 with bout 120k on it. my tranny sometimes hesitates to go from R to Drive. wondering if anybody has experienced this or any other problem related. i also had a ford tech tell me about reflashing the computer for tranny upgrades?

my 2003 6.0 torqshift has done this since new. i learned to let her hook -up before i touch the go pedal. it's a little bit of of a pain ,but i have a 178,000 on her and it still works great.i think it's just a querk in these 5r 110w's.be patient and let her hook up before you mash the go pedal.

You can only get five speeds at any time. It never shifts 1-2-3-4-5-6. It will normally shift 1-2-3-5-6. It will use 4 instead of 5 when the transmission is colder than 0°F, and on some downshifts in certain conditions it will shift from 6-4 instead of 6-5.
The extra shift you feel is the torque converter locking.
