You can use a c4 or c6. I wouldn't be surprised if you already have one of these and just don't know it. Pull the pan and go get a filter kit for it. The way you differentiate transmissions is with the shape of the pan/gasket. The cleveland has a 289/302/351w bellhousing, so lot's of trannies will bolt up.

If you go to a manual trans, just make sure you get the correct flywheel. There has been lots of debate on this website about compatibility between 351c/351w flywheels and I don't know if we ever got it all ironed out.
