I can understand the rusty tailgate and the rusty quarters. I've yet to have them on this one but have had my other trucks do it. It's like death and taxes. It's inevitable. My 06, 55k miles on it, is now having the bubbling by the right clearance light. About a quarter in size. Just doing a little venting. I'm not a body guy. Hopefully I can get one who can take care of it before it gets worse. Just venting like I said..
It's in my garage when I'm done with it, rain or shine. It's cleaned and washed and babied. It's never been repainted ether. My 98 Expy started at 156, 000 miles. Go figure. I'm hoping the body guy I use can just fix that spot without the whole roof being done.
Speaking of rust, the cooling vents of my rotors were dropping flakes of rust that were pinging off the shield. Sounded like a coffee can of 5/16 nuts being shaken. Took a bit to find that but no excuse for the roof.
My 05's in the body shop as we speak. It's all over the wheel wells and its rotting from the inside out. Ford does a terrible job of protecting the bodies of our trucks from rust.
I feel your pain....
I feel your pain. I love my Fords, but I've been thoroughly unimpressed with the paint quality on my 05. I've already had to sand and repair under the 3rd brakelight and a couple spots on the roof. I've also had to touch up the window corners and the front of the front doors due to flaking paint. The wheel well on the drivers side is just starting, and I need to deal with the tailgate pretty quick as well. Not to mention the rear quarter panels which I attribute more to having no mudflaps than paint quality... Haven't noticed any right above the windshield yet, but I'm sure it wont be long.

I'm not sure if the trucks are done different from the SUV's in particular the Expeditions. My Expy started at about 156K. Just at the bottom of the doors and it wasn't that bad. I have a few neighbors, a brother and a friend whose Expys all have high mileage. They seem to holding out better. But I got the truck to pull horse trailers and it does that great.
