New CPS affecting shift patterns?
Hello. Today my truck would not shift from 1st to 2nd from a dead stop without backing off the accelerator. For grins I stuck in my spare CPS and the shifting problem disappeared. The difference is that my shifts from 1st to 2nd are no longer crisp, even though I have a Sonnax/Tricumulator shift kit. Is this due to the new computer getting used to the new CPS, or am I just masking the problem with a short term fix. This tranny has 144K on it, and it has been well maintained.

It could be the CPS causing a problem. There have been a lot of guys who have gotten bad CPS's right out of the box before. I had one that went bad within 6 months of use. There's supposed to be a really good IH CPS that's purple colored and much better than the black CPS.
I would also check your VSS on top of the rear diff. Pull it out and clean it off really good with a clean cloth, and check the wiring and plug for damage.
