Hard shifting

Hi when my truck shifts from 1st to 2nd it shifts hard I haven't tried it on any of the other gears yet but my dads truck had the same problem but it was just a fuse? Is this something bad?

Check for Codes.

Replace the VSS sensor in the Rear End. Anti-Lock Brake Vehicle Speed Control Sensor.

Clean out the TPS. Throttle Position Sensor.

Check the wiring.

Check this forum page out it may help.

What about the transmission fluid level? I would add some lucas transmission fix, even if it is not leaking. It helps with hard shifting.

Is the speedometer erratic? Some good info for how to test the VSS in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-problems.html

My 95 had this problem, and it was a broken 1 to 2 shift accumulator spring. Maybe the same for you. I found a thread somewhere about it. It may have been f150online.com
