97 cali truck

Update if just reading this post: I have detemined that I do not have a cli truck for that I am blessed lol now I just need to figure out why this truck has no giddy up in her step...



Hey guys I new to the forum referred by another member... I have a 97 f350 with the 7.3 with around 291xxx miles on her... I am having a major issue getting any power, I have been told this is a cali truck and I live in Fl. I am debating on how to proceed... I am thinking new injectors and maybe a pc flash, possibly new turbo but I am not sure what the common power issues are with these cali trucks.. I know I need GP since I replaced the GPR with very little effect so that is on the list as well as a new dip stick assembly since she marks her territory lol.... I have the following mods; a cold air intake and 3.5 inch straight exhaust no tuner since I didn't get any power from the one I installed... If you need symptoms they are as follows; when cold or warm I step on the accelerator and she lunges hard like I would say is normal then nose dives and struggles (no misses or runnin bad) to get up to speed and when in the pedal hard she shifts like a freakin tank leading to my whip lash lol..... I am at a loss less having the whole darn thing rebuilt... I know she has been well maintained since I have records from new she is just a super turd and its getting old fast.... Any suggestions?

what was your old tuner? there have been many reports of edge products screwing up the PCM on our trucks. BTW, welcome

it was a scorpion diesel chip only 25-50 hp but the truck acted the same way before I tried the tuner....

or unplug the EBPV.

She has not thrown any codes its like she is running just fine just no ***** and absolutely no smoke no matter what I try lol.... I am not sure what that acronym stands for that you told me to pull....

Ok I looked up that acronym lol I have yet to play with that I am still learning about the 7.3 so I will have to take a look at it and see how to open it up if thats what I need to do...

exhaust bypass valve. it is on the exhaust side of the turbo. supposed to help the engine warm up faster. sometimes it will stay shut,and choke your exhaust.

drivers side, under the turbo, you will see an electrical connector.... unplug it

No real effect it may have helped the falling off a bit but she still just runs outta steam as the R's pick up....

Nope but I will add that to my to do list... I was wondering if there were any flash updates that may help like maybe one that reprograms to normal standards instead of cali standards...

i am not sure, but i think a cali truck has to have a cali flash because of the split shot injectors.
