Just a thought. Clean up the throttle position sensor. Down by the pedal. Also throw a new fuel filter in it. Check the return screen for debris. Its near the top driver side of the fuel bowl. If its an automatic the transmission there is a range selector that might be the cause.
Ok thanks I was told about that collector as for the air filter it has a AEM cold air induction filter on it and I clean it often... I will also check the TPS and use some contact cleaner on it... As for the Ranger selector I am not sure where that would be but would it cause an unusually hard shift when under load?
This is a new one to me... clean how? Wipe it off, spray it with contact cleaner?
urbanagolfer if your fuel pump has the black disc on it it's a Cali, if not it's a 49 state.
Ok I am pretty sure I have the cali truck I will check it all out once again tomorrow when I kidnap my buddy and his computer and see if any codes are coming up this time around....

Hey great news!!!!! The fuel pump upon much closer investigation does not match the cali truck style there is no big round plate and I found a site that listed the vin designation and my designation is used for both cali and 49 state trucks so I thought it was cali based on that......
Yes it does I guess I should have asked y'all first instead of going of the vin designation lol.... Now to figure out why this ol turd is such a turd lol...

Well for one you have itty bitty little fuel squirters in there! Could be any number of things. Make sure the fuel filter and FPR screen and clean and you have good fuel pressure (65psi at idle roughly), and that the truck has plenty of clean oil in it. Check for fuel leaks on the motor, make sure your turbo is healthy.
All of that is going to happen this weekend... I do have a brand new fuel filter and oil change and when I say turd bro I mean she won't out run a ranger pulling 10000 pounds and absolutely refuses to throw any smoke lol.... Its actually ridiculous how slow this truck picks up the R's... I am not sure what psi the turbo is running but she screams while spooled up... I am gonna pull some codes and check fuel pressure and such maybe that will lead me down the right path lol... It does have an oil leak but its coming from the dip stick where it bolts to the oil pan... That is the only leak she has...
If your check engine light isn't on then there are no important codes thrown/stored. Have you checked the wiring going to/under the valve covers?
My truck is stock except intake (Cali 96) and it doesn't smoke any either. Throw a Walmart bag over the intake... she'll smoke then!
lol I am not worried about the smoke its the power I am worried about there has to be something wrong with fuel delivery or something in the puter but I guess I'll find out sat or sun lol...

They get pretty nasty. I cleaned up mine and did a little tweak or two. Got rid of the hesitation it had and smoothed out acceleration. I can't remember what I used to clean it. But it was probably a contact / relay cleaner I had around.
