Aux Button on Radio
I drive a 2005 F-250. How in the world do i use the 'Aux" button on my radio? I would love to plug my ipod or iphone up to the radio, but I have not idea where the connection is for the aux. All i see is the button on the radio. What am i missing here?
How do i know there is an input in the back of the radio for me to connect to? if there is...does the radio have to come out?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you have a Aux button, then you should be able to conect your IPOD or other device to your radio. If the jack is not in the back of the radio, they should be able to install a new radio adapter harness to your radio and run the cable to somewhere on your dash.
This would probably work for you...
* FORD FRD04 AUX INPUT ADAPTER FOR AUDIO (2004 AND NEWER CARS WITH 16 PIN PORT -AND- AUX BUTTON)*::*FORD AUX ADAPTERS (Radios with INTERNAL -INSIDE RADIO- CD CHANGERS or NO CD CHANGERS)*::*FORD LINCOLN MERCURY AUX IPOD MP3 ADAPTER*::*AUX AND IPOD ADA
or this...
**PIE FRD04-POD/S FORD TO IPOD (FORD IPOD ADAPTER FOR CAN BUS)*::*IPOD DIRECT COMPATIBLE AUX ADAPTERS*::*AUX AND IPOD ADAPTERS*::*OEM Factory Aux Ipod Adapters & Changers*::*AUTOTOYS
I didn't order from this site so I don't know anything about it. I'm sure you can find the stuff cheaper with enough searching.
Just make sure you check your truck to see if these will work. You're probably gonna have to pull your radio to see what inputs are back there - you might want to call around and ask about the adapters too.
I would rather use something that is already there than purchasing a 3rd party product. I just need to know if something is there or not first.

There are auxillary modules that you can add on to the radio later. For instance, the iSimple Gateway to give yourself an iPod input/interface.
In 2008 Ford finally added a 1/8" audio jack input on the dashboard. ...it isn't the best place for it, as a careless knee will snap the male plug off inside... don't ask me how I know.
The AUX button is just an indication that you can add an external module to your radio.

I should have kept that OEM radio....my aftermarket head unit only lead to theft, broken locks, and cracked dash board.

It will come JUST far enough out to get a 7mm nut driver in to the radio mount screws without having to unplug all the wiring and vacuum connectors. Unplugging just the headlight wiring connectors will give you a substantial increase in working room.
I just finished putting a factory sub from a 2008 supercab into my 2007 supercab, to complement the 2007 Factory Audiophile unit from a Focus (that was 100% plug-n-play).
Surprisingly, it RAWKS...

My attempt to "upgrade" to aftermarket resulted in new door handles and such..... 2 DAYS after installation.

I have that same FRD04-AUX unit, on my 2003 it plugs into the EXTERNAL CD CHANGER port (an option, even though there is already an integrated 6 CD changer). On mine I push the CD button twice to cycle to the external unit, which is now actually the FRD AUX unit, which I have the exact same 1/8th in audio cable setup run from under the dash to allow all types of audio devices to be used (XM radio, MP3 player, etc).
