Send him an email and ask. He wouldn't sell the old style cup holder.

Send an email to partsguyed.com and confirm color and style for your year. I believe color is prairie tan and year is 2000-2004. You could even try 1999, some of the older cup holders were replaced at the dealer. I believe the new replacements are ALL of the newer style. Shoot Ed an email just to confirm.

Smile Cup holder

I'm happy I stumbled across this thread! I recently purchased an old 1992 F150 XLT 4x4 to replace my 1989 F150 2x4 (probably the first and last new vehicle I'll ever be able to purchase). Both vehicles have reg. cabs.

I had a console that sat on the bench seat that had the built in drink holders. The disadvantage was that every time I went to get something out from behind the seat--the console got in the way.

I've ordered a Dee Zee Tough Guy cab organizer for behind the seat of the 92 and have been looking for something other than a seat mounted console--and most floor consoles I've found have been too big.

Then I found this thread. Does anyone know if I can use a "newer" (like 2005) drink cup upgrade in the 92 ashtray compartment?

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me!

I don't think that your 1992 dash is compatible with the newer (2005+) cup holder.

Welcome to FTE!

I won't be able to get back to you until tomorrow, but I can check my 92 and 2000 and get the dimensions for you. I highly doubt they will fit the same and function properly, but if they are the same width and height at the least you could permanently mount it in place(but not push it back in).

Anyone know if front color matched piece will come off old one and go on new one? Would like to do this to my 99 but don't want color to be off. Thanks

Unless yours is faded they can get the matched plastic or it can be painyed similar to gauge pods. I've had pretty good succeSs with the paint. Done 3 pods and even a 08+ console. Only place the paint has come off is where the seatbelt rubs it due to my big butt and on the pass side where the armrest rubs (that wasn't designed to be there in the 08+ application)

My 2000 has the "new" style one, but it's useless for cans or bottles....looks ok for coffee cup or softdrink cup.

Here I thought I had the crappy one! First think I did after putting fuel in my truck for the first time was put a can of pop in the cup holder to have it fall right to the floor.

I see the 2001 have cup holders in the arm rest...

You might have a problem with your cup holder? The arms are spring loaded and will hold a can without any problem. Maybe you can check out the local dealer and ask to look at the part and get a feel for the spring tension it should have. Let me know what you find out.

Ok, mine has lots of "spring" in the arms, and has the "For soft cups only" like the second one shown in the photos, and the removable "ash tray" but looks like mine is different yet again from the two that are shown.

There is no "bottom" in mine to hold something like a can. Was that a later improvement yet again, or is mine missing something?
