99 f250 superduty odometer problem

i've got a 99 f250 Superduty and the odometer along with the trip does not work.
the speedometer works fine. any suggestions on how to troubleshoot to find the problem?

Sounds like the plastic gear in the cluster is bad. Fairly simple and cheap fix. They go out from time to time on Mustangs.

well I got the cluster apart...all the gears seem fine but the worm gear that is on the motor is questionable... or it could be the motor? Is there any way to test the motor to make sure that is not the problem?
