I have a '05, F250, V10, CC, short bed; while working on a tire rotations I noticed a sheet of heat shield material laying on top of the exhaust pipe above the rear axle. I can't figure out where it came from. The size is about 12"x18", foil with a fiberglass mat backing. The sheet is exactly the right length to span the bed support brackets space but I could not find any indication of how it was fastened or where. Since the exhaust pipe bends up over the axle tube at this point, I think it is ment to shield the underside of the bed.
Can anyone take a look at their truck and see if they have the same configuration and tell me how it attached.
It does attach to the underside of the bed where the pipe clears the axle. How it attaches I don't know. Probably an adhesive. Get a can of 3M Super 77 spray adhesive and stick it back on.
