sorry to everyone just trying to figure this trucks problem out. does the return line end close to the bottom of the fuel tank, so it keeps pressure or is it ok if there is air pockets in it? because mine seems to not hold a solid pressure and it never stays primed but is my trian of thought off base?
The return line ends a few inches above the bottom of the fuel tank, it has this silly rubber valve-cap-thing at the end that should prevents air from being sucked in when the engine is off. I see no issues with extending the line till it reaches the bottom of the tank, this way it's always covered in fuel and no air will go in even if the silly rubber thing don't seal quite as good as it should...
i mean the return line never stays primed, the other end between the lift pump is allways at pressure, im just trying to figure this trucks miss/ raw fuel smell in the exhaust, with the plume of grey smoke
Sounds like the timing is too retarded. The return lines will only cause a no-start issue, once the truck is running they may **** fuel if they got a leak somewhere but they will not cause raw fuel smell in the exhaust or excessive smoke...
I might not be helpful, but if its blowing black smoke change the oil it help with my truck. Also if you having trouble starting it, it could be the return lines have a crack and sucking in air or the glow plugs are gone this happen with my truck
