tune up woes

Hey guys I feel like a fool. I have a 96 150 5.0 with 125k miles on it. Just bought it and thought I would do a tune up. I replaced the cap, rotor plugs and wires. When I started it up it is making a popping noise and running very rough. I double checked and I have the firing order correct. When I shut it off it makes a hissing sound like something is leaking down. It ran good before with only a mild hesistation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,David

Actually it's not a hissing sound. It is a buzzing sound coming from beside where the coil is located. I can lay my hand on top of the connectors there and feel it vibrating a little.

Check the vacuum lines. I bet you have a leak. The red vacuum lines are the worst.

Firing order is 13726548, distributor turns counter clockwise, #1 cylinder is front passenger side, and the cylinder count goes passenger side front to back and then drivers side front to back.
