I was using SCT but switched to quarter horse and binary editor.

Without reading the whole thread, are you using a maf for tuning?

That's probably the route I'd go. I really want a project like this but can't afford the down time on my dd.

I am using 42lbs injectors. The reason I didn't go megasquirt is because I didn't want to spend the money on a stand alone trans controller. Using Quarterhorse and a factory computer has made it a lot easier. The learning curve is steep but once I got the injector slopes right and a good MAF transfer the truck was up and running. I have some small tweaks to make for better drivability before I can really get in to it and work on better MPG. Not worried about the power. I know I will have more then what I got on the dyno last time just because this tune will be a lot better. Also here is a quick video of it running.

Any news on the build?? I am very curious to see how things have turned out. I am going to be building a 300 I6 for my new project and was wondering if you had finished all of the upgrades you had mentioned......

Turbo on my I6

I'm thinking about putting a turbo on my F-150 and I was wonder what the best parts to use would be. If y'all could help me out that would be great I need to get a project started

You should start from page 1. There is a lot of info here.
You need to read about turbo systems and familiarize yourself with how they work.
With that info, your question almost answers itself.
You'll need a turbo.... I'd say use a 5.9 cummins for a quick spool or a powerstroke turbo from a superduty (.84 exh housing)
You'll need a wastegate. I'd use a 38-44mm
Intercooler... A lot of people use them, some people tune around the extra heat.
Exhaust.... Should be as big as you can fit after the turbo.
I'd suggest using dual 2.25 before the turbo to keep velocity up, and if you have a non stock engine, 2.5 before the turbo then into a Y before the turbo.
You'll need supporting mods like fuel system and injectors, and some way to tune it. Quarterhorse, tweecer, or megasquirt. Read about them all.
Maybe a maf conversion if you're not already.

Keep reading on the subject. There's a lot to learn.

I have a 1989 f-150 xlt lariat with the 4.9l straight 6, 2 wheel drive with the four speed with the overdrive. I' planning on turbocharging it but I want to know what I need to do on a stock engine, intake manifold and exhaust manifold bolt torque standards for a rig with a turbo, I have a turbo kit but don' want to mess up my engine. Last do I need a computer to run my turbo or not
