on my 96 ranger the "key in ignition alert" sound constantly runs without the key in the ignition. It does stop when the door is closed but as soon as the door opens it starts up again...this is when the key has been removed from the ignition. Is there a relay that I can replace that will cure this problem?
Ohh.. I had that on my 02 when I bought it. It drove me batty! I had to pull the steering column apart and bend the little sensor back into shape if I remember right. That was five years ago and it still works as it should.

How far apart of the steering column did you have to go? Is there a diagram showing the breakdown of the steering column that anyone could share with me?
Oops forgot the word cover after steering column in my original post. The cover was all I had to pull off. The sensor was easy to get to after that.
Thank you for clarifying that. That put a big bright light at the end of the tunnel LOL
This has been dinging for about three years and now I can't wait to be able to open it up and finally fix it.
