I have a 1983 F150 4.9 with no Air Conditioning, so in the summer in South Carolina it is almost unbearable to drive it, I usually drive it on Sunday mornings about 2 miles to get the newspaper and feel that is sufficient. My 83 F150 can sit a lot longer than my 2002 F150 can, the 83 always starts and runs but the 02 runs rough until it warms up after sitting.
Once or twice a week is sufficent in my opinion. Just make sure the engine gets up to full operating temps for at least 10 minutes or so to keep the plugs from short trip fouling.
Once a month would be the utmost limit, in my opinion, as fuel starts to go bad, gears in the tranny and rear end start to rust, batteries run down, lifters can leak down etc...
I have a few of my vehicles sit for months, execpt for dead batterys and rats/mice chewing up wires, I never had much problems as I use gas conditioner in the tanks to keep gas going bad.
If it sat for like 4 months or more, then run it at least 25 to 30 miles. That should warm everything up and slosh lube around, chase out rats/mice ect.....
