i found these on summit, i know they arent flashy or high dollar oranything too nice but i just want a gain in HP and, torque. and before everyone starts yelling about them being shorties I KNOW, i know longtubes will make bigger gains but A) i dont have the deepest pockets around, and B) i can not fit longtubes with my T18, the collector will hit my slave cylinder and my bell housing, trust me ive tried. Anyway the thing i wanna know, is do these look like they'll take a pretty good beating? like see a mud hole and maybe not see a good wash for 4 days to 4weeks? just give me your honest opinion Summit Racing SUM-G9035 - Summit Racing® Truck Headers - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Shorties will produce good gains over manifolds as long as you also ditch the stock Y-pipe and converters. Stainless headers will last forever while the painted versions only make it 2-3 years if you live in northern or coastal climates, and the paint on these will flake off the first time you get everything up to operating temperature.
i live in south GA a good hour or more i any direction from a beach, the worst thing these might see is maybe some clay if it gets slung upin the engine bay.
If you don't have bad winters where there is a lot of salt like here in Ohio, the painted ones would be fine. But still if you think there is a risk of them rusting out, id go with the stainless JBA's. I have 2 sets of painted headers on 2 different trucks that were installed last year. Needless to say they aren't in the best shape.

They are actually pretty good!.......just mind Conanski's words about the Y pipe. Installed the exact set a couple years back on a buddies Bronco, install was easy, and no problems so far......The "Butt dyno" .....well it "thinks" they made a difference.
