OK, So I ordered Summit's shorty truck headers (SUM-G9035) to replace the cracked manifolds on my 90 F150 (302 auto). I was glad to see that they arrived today, but when I opened them I found that each header has a bung near where they connect to the Y pipe. Problem is that my stock setup does not have these bungs. I tried to find a plug at the hardware store that would fit but had no luck. I think I will exchange them for a FlowTech set that appears to not have the bungs, but has anyone else run into this? The bungs must be for emmissions equipment.

 

Probably for O2 sensors. Just weld them up if you dont need them.

 

Don't go to the hardware store. Try an auto parts store or a muffler shop. Those arent too hard to find.

 

I sent them back to Summit and ordered a different set from them, Flowtech brand. The Flowtech headers apparently don't have the bungs. If they do, I'll try an autoparts shop.

 

Yea, the bungs are for O2 sensors. The plug's gonna be $$, I thing I paid $10 at least for just 1.
