Tire Size?

Does anyone know if I can run 275/70/R16 BFG AT KO's on my Ford F150 4x4 without rubbing? I dont have a lift kit and dont want one. It has stock rims and came with 245/75/R16's. According to my calculations the 275/70/16 is only 0.5 inch taller but almost 1.2 inches wider. I know they will fit but just dont want rubbing while turning sharp or bending of any fender metal...

Thanks

my 03 has 285x75x16 on it lol not my choice but were on it when i got it and they dont rub at all but have to have the pmc flashed to handle the taller tires, dont let lot boys put tires on a rig like they did cause you will get monsters on it

older trucks needed a new speedo gear in the transmission to compensate for the new BIG tires... new trucks have this programed into the computer. the computer needs to be "flashed" or reprogramed at the dealer to compensate for the gear (tire) change.

No, your OEM tire size is P235/70R16 104S not "235/R16". All of the numbers and letters in the tire size description are important, particularly the "104" since that tells us the tires load carrying capacity.

Towing capacity is set by the vehicle and the specs can be found in your owners manual or possibly on the Vehicle Information Tag inside the drivers door frame. Changing to P255/70R16 109S tires will not increase your towing capacity one bit, nor will it likely improve stability although it was an optional size on your truck and you could install such tires with no problems except for a reduction in speedometer and odometer accuracy.

If you want to improve stability while towing check the maximum inflation pressure listed on the sidewall of your tires. It is probably 44 psi. Normally the tires on your truck would be inflated to 35 psi front and rear but to improve stability while towing you could increase that to 44 psi if allowed by your tires. You don't gain any load carrying or towing capacity above 35 psi but the higher pressure will produce less squirm. Just remember to drop the pressure back down when you are not towing.

You don't have to, just be aware your speedo and odo will be off a certain %

with the 285 on my speedo is off 10 percent and have to remember when on the hiway to drop lol lots easier with tires that dont wear out very fast to spend the 40 bucks to get it flashed and then no worries and no redlights in the mirror when you forget to account for that 10 percent
