My father, in his infinite wisdom, dind't undo the cooling lines from the trans, there undone from the other end, by teh radiator, not to metn ion I have a cross member in the way, and he also undolted teh drain pan cause the dipstick was in teh way of removal, so I'm trying to find away to get it out. The dipstick tube is stuck so tight I cant get it off to put teh pan back on teh trans, and the trans is being help up by my floor jack. So I'm stuck cause I dunno what to do now. I mean I know get the lines off.

but other than that, Im stuck.

Have you undone the converter from the flex plate and slid it back on the input shaft?

No, I mean, like how can I remove it? I don't wanna damage the exposed part of the trans (I have a block of wood wetween my jack and the rear of the trans). I don't haev jack stands either, which would make this a bit easier. So would a second jack.
I know the cross member, but right now, that cross member and my jack are the only thing holding my trans in place.

Any ideas?

I have no idea what you just asked. You spoke french for all I know. I'm going to say yes. Because there is nothing holding ym trans up except teh cross member by the bellhousing and my jack.

What I mean is have you undone the 4 nuts that hold the torque converter to the flywheel (inside the bell housing) and slid the torque converter away from the flywheel to disengage it?

BTW...please be careful and keep yourself out from underneath the transmission while doing all of this. We don't need any threads on first aid.

Too late. When I told my dad we couldnt take the trans out till we got the lines off, something aprked his brain and set him off. he kicked jack which was holding up the trans which I was partially under, which squished me a bit. I'm ok, no hospital required. just some annoying bruising. Unfortunatly, he went back to Illinois today, so I have no help no (not that making teh trans squish me really helped).

But yes, I've unbolted everything. I already have the rear cross ember moved out of the way, it's the front cross member and cooling lines that are in my way. No bolts, no nothing.

Whenever something like this has happened to me, 90% of the time it was because of a bolt that I had missed. If everything is undone that thing should practically fall out of there.

Good idea to walk away from it when it's giving you fits though...you can always come back to it in a better frame of mind.
