Low fuel pressure. Help.

Low fuel pressure. Help.

My '97 F-250 diesel is having a problem. Testing the fuel pressure at the schrader valve gives around 10 psi. I am not returning any fuel through the fuel pressure regulator. The low pressure makes me think that the pump is bad, but it isn't weeping. Does it sound like a pump to everyone else? I can pull fuel up from the tank with my mightyvac.

i just did the fpr shim with a bb. mine was 35 psi i havent checked it after i shimed it

It shouldn't run with only 10psi at idle

I also shimmed my FPR, I went from 35psi to ~ 60psi.... might be orth a shot

when I shimmed mine it went from 45psi to 65psi.

It was the pump. I replaced it last night and the truck hasn't run this good in a long time. Nice to have some power back!!! I guess it was beginning to starve itself of fuel. The pressure now reads between 45 and 50 at idle. I haven't tried the shim yet, but I think I might this weekend. Thanks for your help.
