I've been looking for somewhere to find the u joint in steering shaft located between the firewall and the steering box of my '74 F250 4x4. Any help is appreciated.
I have the same problem, I have found a shop in Mesa that will sell me the u-joint to put back on my shaft. The price is $130, it is brand new and was beefier than the ones that borgenson provide for $89 . I will post you the name and # of the company for you when I get to work tomorrow.
I had the same problem but I went to local Race car shop and they sell a u-joint that is 36 spline on 1 end and 3/4 inch collar on the other end that u weld on and the splined end has a set screw with a lock nut on it. I think that Afco makes it. hope this helps
wow, the long one is the twin to mine (I'm guessing it is the one out of the '77) ....if bronkntrukholik doesn't want it what would you take for it, been looking all over for a replacement when I found the place I mentioned in my earlier posting....would save me a lot of effort, and time...
The outfit in AZ. that will build a new heavy duty u-joint for you at about $130.00 is Benchworks steering, their number is 480-946-3992 and I spoke with Greg. they can build a complete steering shaft for about $380.
I finally pulled mine out today, popped the u-joint out and took it to the local napa. the guy matched me up with a precision universal joint part # 861, it was listed as a rockwell u-joint. It has needle bearings in it w-a grease zerk. I installed it 2nite and works well, now i need a pass side ball joint and a slave cylinder. Never ending!
