I have a 2005 6.0, Excursion, totally stock, as far as I know, 240,000 miles. It starts and idles perfectly and pulls not too bad up to around 1750-2000 rpms. However, at these rpms and speeds above 55mph, and on hills, it acts as though it is starving for fuel. (missing, shuddering, etc). It also has a noticable miss when in park and rpms are above an idle. Any ideas? Could this be stiction, or is the fuel pump suspect? It acts the same hot or cold.
It had two codes, one for FICM and one for # 4 injector. I replaced FICM, cleared codes and none came back. No smoke to speak of, mileage is around 14 average.
I don't have a gauge. The filters (Ford) were changed about 5k ago. ts been like this since I bought it, (6 months) so I don't think fuel quality has much to do with it. But I do get my fuel at a truck stop. (SHELL)

I'm going to get a lot of grief for this suggestion but if I were you I would get two cans of SEAFOAM and put it in your oil. Drive for about 15 to 20 minutes then change oil while the motor is hot. I do this before every oil change except I put the SEAFOAM in about 200 miles before I change oil. Have 90,000 miles on the X and never had a turbo or injector problem. SEAFOAM is a popular product that injector shops use to clean and test their injectors.
Also, if you are not using a synthetic motor oil, I would suggest you do so.
Would a dying alternator cause these symptoms? I tested the voltage today at an idle. It read 12.5-12.7. I replaced the batteries and am going to replace the alternator early next week.

yes it will and that will also kill your new ficm.
Come home yesterday from trip up north. Truck has been running perfect for 130000. miles no problems. Stopped in SC to fill up, got back on 95 and about 1 mile truck lost power as if not getting any fuel. Truck did not shut off but would only get up to about 35 or 40 mph. Truck enventually shut down, but after 20 to 30 minutes truck restarted and performed the same. Evebtually got to an exit and pulled over and shut off again and not restarting. Truck will restart after a lot of trying but runs exremlly rough as if it has no fuel going to engine, shudders and sounds like it's skipping. No smoke at all.oil pressure is perfect oil level good, temp good, trans temp good, and no leaks found. Thought it was bad fuel but removed fuel and replaced and still does the same thing. ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE>
