I have a 99 f150 off road package and I want my truck to crackle all the time and not just in the morning and then when th truck gets warm fade away ???????
Where the pipes come from the cats and go into a y have an exhaust shop cut them apart into 2 individual pipes and run 2.5 strait pipe without a crossover to in front of the passenger side rear wheel. That would be plenty loud all the time. I would add some tips too, they help deepen the tone and sound less high pitched and annoying.
Cool , But see right now I have true duals with no y pipe. after the cats 2 single pipes go back to the spare tire and angle out about 45 degrees on each side, then i have some tips on there from car x, just normal long ones , I would like to get some bigger ones but have no idea where to go, also its sound loud all the time just when the truck gets warm after youve been driving for about 10 to 15 minutes that crackle fades away, but youre saying to put the exit pipes out in front of the passenger and drivers side of the back tire and should crackle all the time?????????
Have a solution for you. Open headers!!!! Just kidding. Just dropped my truck off at the exhaust shop and man was that a fun ride. Put shorty headers on the truck and they wouldn't bolt up to the y-pipe. 10-15 miles from my house and you couldn't believe the looks I got. Some people just don't have a sense of humor...... Dan
P.S. and no, didn't see one cop........
I think the best route for you to take would just to get two highflow cats installed in place of the four you have on there. And I would recommend installing an x-pipe or h-pipe somewhere in there to balance out the exhaust pulses to gain a few hp.
How much does an x-pipe or an h-pipe really help? I was told unless you have 500HP or above they really don't do a thing. I know they come from the factory on some vehicles. I had one on my 93 Cobra than I got married she made me sell all my toys. Now that I'm single time to get a collection of toys going again. Dan
If ya really want it to be loud, just run headers with duals out in front of the rear wheels. No cats, mufflers, or anything. Just open pipes the same size as the collector on the headers. That'll make some infernal racket!!! Just find some way to hook up the sensors.
