I was just wondering if anyone had done any business with Iron Bull bumpers and what you thought about the fit and finish of his product.
I just got off the phone with him about an installation problem in which he told me I basically didn't know squat about reverse sensor installation and that the grommets had to be siliconed in. For what my "customer" paid for this bumper ($1500) they cut all the holes with a torch and the license plate lamps won't fit without being glued in either. What a JOKE. I even had to dremel out the bolt attaching holes to get the mount bolts (which weren't included either) in the slots. I could have cut the holes better with a #4 tip with no oxygen in the bottle.
I would advise ANYONE thinking about doing business with this "man" to think about NOT buying a product from him. They just don't get any ruder than this.
A friend of mine had the same problem on his! I also saw a IB bumper on a Crapota and they didn't even grind down the welds the just spray the bedliner stuff on it.
I hope I can get pictures of this POS that's supposedly supposed to be so stout. The factory rear bumper is MUCH stouter where it counts.....in the frame work. The shackle/tow lugs are 5 layers thick, but with the way it's "welded together the three inner layers of the 5 layer sandwich are only barely tacked on the ends. The bumper has mounts that are nothing more than glorified 1/4" angle iron that's been hacked up by a cutting torch. There are no reinforcements to them. There are no internal reinforcements to the bumper itself. They think that spraying it with "rhino liner" will cover up all the flaws. I've seen chickens that can crap a stronger weld, if you take my drift. The bumper shell is made of pieces of plate that are welded together with virtually no weld penetration. I've burned enough rods and wire in my time to know what is a good weld. This AIN"T it. One good pull on the shackle loops and either the bumper's coming off or the tow loops are coming off. The Factory bumper at least has full length reinforcement. Hell.....you can't even access the spare tire with this bumper.....no hole where it really needs one and no hole or mount for trailer wiring. I don't know why people think these are such fine pieces, but they are definitely a PIECE.
I sent Bismic pictures of a few of the choicest pieces. Hopefully he can post them for me to comment on.
I have an ARB full front replacement and i am very impressed with the quality on this thing. I actually saw a tour of their shop on a 4x4 show, most of the welds are made by a robot, plate is CNC cut, pipe is CNC mandrel bent, they even have coputer controlled grinders. Its actually a pretty well run outfit. The mounting was strait forward, all the holes lined up and it matches body lines really well and the finish was nearly flawless. A few things i wish it had are recessed fog lights and a skid plate to cover the factory core support, which seems to be a common problem in almost every bumper i have seen. But all in all the thing is really great...would recommend it to anybody.
Thanks Mark. Not bad pic's for a camera phone , huh?? I wish my camera had that much clarity. Now I can post pic's of the rest of the upgrade project I'm doing. Still contemplating what to do with this POS bumper. I've also got to grind all the sprayed on liner off the mounting points so it won't work loose after a while. This crap is about as tender as egg shells anyway. It's not stuck for chit.
Inresesting.
Where are they located out of?
I see a superduty all the time running around my city with all their bumpers on it and huge iron bull logos all over it. I thought the bumpers looked good at 60mph.

That's because they are located in Phoenix. It looks "good" from the outside because everything is covered up with rhino liner wannna be. The coating is even cheezy and soft. I wish I could send it back but I don't think that will happen. I do see some more iron in this things future. One piece of 1/2 x 6 x 38" long will make it tough where it really needs to be, and a little welding on the inside of the tow hooks will make them bulletproof....at least pull out proof.
Quality is poor, and from what I've seen of the owner's posts on forums, he's a 1st class a-hole. I decided long ago to never buy or recommend those bumpers.
