I haven't run anything myself but I noticed everything that was run came through a pre-exhisting hole on the firewall. Drivers side, top corner on the firewall near the door, or relatively close to it at least.
there was a small hole i enlarged to a 1 inch hole on the firewall i passed the wires thru for my boost gauge, it was double wall sheetmetal so it was a real workout for my step bit! then the dang grommet doest wanna fit good since its designed for single wall. so i will have to work something out for that later. will post some pictures of it later tonight.
hooked the hot to an ignition wire that turns on with key and doesnt loose power when cranking.
then i hooked into the dash light wire so i can dim my gauge light and turn it on and off with the other lights.. works great, these led autometer gauges dim just fine with the stock dimmer.
the ground i used was the metal frame behind the plastic dash.
took it for a drive, i have the ccv mod and the 6637 air filter mod, the boost gauge floored going to 45 mph or so read 15 lbs of boost, i think this is a normal reading for a pretty much stock excursion.. i love turbo sounds.. cant wait to remove that stinking foil to get more turbo sound.
well heres the tools youll need to make the hole..
razor to cut insulation and jute paddding away.
drill with drill bits or step bit to enlarge the hole.
there is also a grommet in teh pic, but due to the area i made the hole its double walled sheetmetal so i need to get a different grommet or find another solution. for now its a paper towel wrapped around the wires thru the hole. (temp)
i noticed when looking at the steering column there is light comming tru from around it, anyone found a way to seal this up and still be able to turn the wheel?
ok heres the location of the hole in the 2nd picture
the 3 picture is the hole with the wire comming thru it.. its a 1 " hole. i wanna run my wires for all 6 gauges thru it later..
in this picture we have the T i made to go in the 1/4 " line its made from brass barbs adn a 3 way fitting from home depot.
then you can see in the 2nd picture it has the pastic line going from it to the map sensor that camer with the autometer gauge.
the 3rd pic is the gauge installed in the dash by the power port.. i thought it would be a great place since it was just a blank panel next to the power port.
the rest the gauges will be installed in my f650 lower dash.
i fused the dash light wire, but still need to put a inline fuse to the power of the gauge for fire protection.. that will come soon as i get another inline fuse holder.
