I would start with replacing the thermostat and go from there

I would start first with what ace said. Are you sure there is no air in it ? If the Tstat checks out then I'd get a hold of a rad psi checker, pump it up and see if it holds psi.

Eliminate the thermostat for now and see how it runs, if it still does the same thing, you have a defective water pump or some kind of blockage in the system

Don't forget to open your heater valve while purging the system. Second, is the thermostat installed correctly? I've seen a few installed upside down.

Was the engine running OK before the swap?

Try running it without the thermostat in, I agree with the other posters you definetly seem to have air trapped in the system.

well yea. The radiator is too small, you may have air in the system as well.

go get a 4 core radiator.

3 things, yes make sure there is no air under your thermostat, I do this by drilling a 1/8th hole in all my thermostats. Second, watch the coolant level in the radiator and rev the engine, if the pump is working usually the level will drop for a second. Third, I'm sorry to say but it really sounds like a bad/blown head gasket. The combustion pressure leaking into the coolant is flash boiling the coolant and pressurizing the system with combustion gasses which is why it is blowing out the raidiator so much and so hot. You can easily check for this with a chemical block tester, it tests for combustion gasses in the radiator, and is pretty darn cheep and easy for what it does.

Good luck, crossing my fingers.

Ohh ya, not that getting a 4 core radiator isn't a good thing or anything, you should get one anyway, but I doubt it's your problem, if it was your temp gauge(assumeing it works well) would rise.
