What do you guys do when you come across them?
Is there a special tool to remove them cleanly?
Do you have a big box of them in your shop and you just replace them?
Mine seem to get all f****d up when I remove them and they don't seem to grab the same when I put them back in.

I keep a box of them. Any autoparts store sells a tool to remove them with less damage to them. Still, if they are very old, I replace them.

I feel your pain......thanks Bismic, i'll go by some aswell.
Oh be thankful you don't have to deal with them to get to the "hip" lights like I do with my DRW. Those are a joy. I think I'm down to 2 on the ones that keep that wiring harness up above the engine. I do need to pick up some. I usually just use a flathead or a small thin knife and just go reeeeeaaaaallllll slow when I try to pick them out.
All in the name of fast cheap assembly. Does anybody know what those things are called? I just always refer to them as those POS plastic things. So does anybody know where a guy can buy a box of those POS plastic things?
In the body shop business they are refered to as "christmas trees" and they are only good for one or two or three uses. I used to keep them by the bucket load in all sizes since GM, Ford, and Chrysler all use different ones for different things. The tool that Mark referenced is available at most autoparts stores for about $10 and are as handy as a pocket on a shirt for all kinds of interior work but do NOT work well as a small crowbar--LOL.
Those of you wanting to replace them, the part number from Ford is -W705589-S if you're interested.
Incidentally, if you happen to have the plastic harness holder above the turbo broken, and would like just the plastic part, the part number for it, is 3C3Z-14A099-AA. I think you'll find it A LOT cheaper than buying a whole new underhood harness.

Mine was broken during warranty repairs and they refused to replace it because it was the whole harness ONLY back then. I didn't even know it was replaceable. Thanks Mike!!!!
They use the same thing only bigger to hold the hood blanket in place. You can buy a dozen of them at Autozone for the price of 1 or 2 at the dealerships.
