Ripped a hose off while pull out a tree

Well as the title says, i was pulling out a tree with a 10k rated strap thats 3months old.... well its decided to snap, it broke close to the tree so the strap being under alot of tension whipped back and under my truck, taking out a hose that looks like its part of the brake system with it..... no lights on the dash and brakes have done fine even while towing a boat and a trailer after. i have pics, just trying to figure out where this hose goes.

The top left corner of the photo is where the brake lines meet, and this is the same spot where this hose is coming from

Might be the vent hose for the differential. Hard to tell without the photo.

Sorry about the pic, it was working last night. I was also thinking along the lines of a vent hose/overflow line, where does this hose go? right now i have it loopped around the axle so it doesnt drag

I took the bed of my '350 a couple of weeks ago and there was a lot of tubing associated with some cannisters back there. Maybe gasoline vapor entrapment and release?

That certainly does look like the vent tube over the axle. Look on top of your diff to confirm, re-insert and re-route the tube up to the frame and you are done.

I will also mention for anyone reading, always put a coat, blanket or something on a strap if possible. Something on the strap or chain will keep it from coming back at you. It will just drop to the ground.

Ok where exactly does it mount to the frame at?

thanks for the tip, ill try that next time. just didnt really think a 10k rated strap would snap like a twig so easily.

That sure looks like the differential vent tube to me. Is the other end of it still connected to the differential? The plastic piece on the end of the hose should attach to a metal clip on the frame rail, chances are the metal clip either came off and is now lost, or broke due to being rusty and weak. You can reattach it somewhere with a zip tie, just make sure the open end of the plastic piece is pointed down.

You got very lucky. Next time, drape a heavy blanket over the strap.

I watched a buddy take out a tail light, tail gate and bed side doing about the same thing (except it was a stump) with a Ram 2500 that was about 3 months old.
