The other day I was walking through a neighborhood nearby my house. I encountered a couple of guys cutting down a tree. They had a truck strapped to the tree by a heavy cable. Seeing how they didn't have much room to pull the tree with the truck, I diligently warned them that they may smash their truck. After a bit of attitude they indicated they had it under control. I walked on and heard the chainsaw fire up. I immediately pulled out my phone and captured this...
LOL, I just watched it again. Seeing the truck bounce along with the crash is LOL. luckily they didn't get injured.
Heard a story once about a family who needed a tree removed. They knew a guy, who knew a guy that "has his own tree service".
Guy shows up by himself and starts working on the tree. After a while a neighbor sees the guy moving rather quickly to his truck. Tree comes down, the guy peels out, and the tree crshes into the house hard.
Guess who's insurance did not pay the damage claim due to the homeowner using an unlicensed, uninsured, (and no longer able to be located) "tree service"?

Over the last 15 years I've removed 18 trees from my yard.
When I needed to pull one I use a 200' cable that goes through a ****** block then at an angle away from the fall line.
My vehicle is well out of range when I yell "TIMBER"
Can someone explain what the plan actually was here? It's pretty far away to see, other than the truck getting munched. It went wrong, I get that.
It's expensive to get a tree removed, and that one was pretty good sized. But there's a reason for that, I suppose. For one thing they (brick and mortar firms) will be bonded and insured. Guess who ultimately pays for that? But it's cheaper than getting sued, and that's what happens when somebody gets hurt.
Wonder what that guys insurance company is going to say about that operation. Bet he needs new shorts, too.
the easy way to explain it is someone with no idea what he is doing trying to drop a tree.
a pro would have climbed the tree, dropping it in roughly 10 foot sections.

I think they call that 'topping'.......
Just remember when you're cutting the sections, DO NOT cut below the level of the safety harness......
