Greetings -- I've had a good run of trouble free driving and it's been a while since I've posted. Just learned of the Maine chapter and joined up -- anybody from here joined up there?
Here's my problem -- my truck seems to occasionally stall while I'm driving. At speed, the engine seems to jump right back, but if I'm stopped, it totally dies, then starts right up again. It seems to be very random (at least as far as I can tell). I'm pretty unskilled under the hood, but it seems electrical? Is this the CPS problem I've read about?
Thanks for the thoughts. I did not do teh recall but I think it may have been done before my time. I'll do a search for the details on the install. Still a bit of a
It's the sensor about the 10oclock position above the crank balancer that goes into the block. One 10mm bolt and it pops out with a little bar or something, may just pull out.
Last change of the oil?
Last change of the fuel filter?
How clean is the fuel bowl vent port located inside the bowl at the top at 3 o-clock?
Any debris in the bottom of the fuel bowl?
What is the fuel pressure at the shrader valve located just below the FPR?
I'm having the same problem. I just changed my fuel filter, oil level is in the hash marks, and I changed my CPS (2nd one) about a year ago <12K miles on CPS. Any ideas?

I have been through 3 CPS's in the last two years. It's pretty common for them to go out soon or even be bad from the start.
But the new dark grey ones, like posted above, seem to be working better and lasting longer. I keep a spare in my glovebox just in case...
Your problem sounds similar to my loose chip problem... random stall, then comes back on if the truck has enough momentum to drive the engine.
May be worthwhile checking the PCM connections to see that they are clean and tight.
Yeah, I thought about that. I wiggled the chip/pcm connection and the truck won't stall. The chip has been installed for several years. I'll keep it in mind but will probably start with another Ford CPS.
