So after reading multiple threads about the TN BB's issue with blowing seals without warning I figured I'd start a thread asking some questions...
What should I be watching for with my turbo? Are there any early warning signs of it beginning to go?
I'm in college and this is the only rig I have available to me, so its really important to me to keep it running reliably, so on that topic, am I safe running the TN BB on stock sticks? I do plan on getting a 38R sometime when funds are there, but right now they really are not, or should I say they are needed elsewhere. I am planning on upgrading from a F5 to a F6, when I do so should I mention to Jody that I have TN BB? Is there anything he can do with the tuning to help me save this turbo as long as possible?
Lastly, what are your opinions on the TN BB? Is it reliable with stock sticks?
Thanks for the help guys, I know obivously the 38R is the way to go, but as I said before, I'm in college so 1500 or so can go a long ways in other directions than all at once on a new turbo...
from what I have heard if you got over 10,000 miles on one and there is no leek..you got a good one..they work well on a PSD but if something does go wrong with it you will end up scraping it because there are no parts for them turbo's... they do not make that turbo any more do to the problems they had..
From everything iive read on it it seems like they do fine (if you got a decent one originally) as long as you don't try to push too much boost. Apparently they can't handle bigger injectors. I know mine is doing fine, but do plan to one day upgrade it just for the reassurance. Just keep an eye on yours and you should be fine
