Helloo FTE!
Im just wondering what are some options for floor covering and what do some of you have? I know the obvious would be carpet but I dont want carpet as it holds water etc. I would like something more solid and water proof ..i see lmc carries a poly vinyl flooring ..is that a hard material or is it a mat sort of deal?
any help is appreciated!
sorry for the double post but I forgot to mention I am thinking of using the spray in bed liner for the floor ..would this be a good idea? I coudnt see why it wouldnt be ..give me some opinions
I have the spray on bed liner in mine, had it for years. It is great. The best part is cleaning it out with some one who dosen't know its in there watching, when you head in with a water hose they think you are nuts.
Haha easy clean up. Im gonna go with that. Are there any cheap spray in stuff or should i get the roll on? I dont want to be stuck with the amount it takes to do a bed ..does it come in smaller cans?
I just had a thread on this a few weeks ago...and yeah i just got enough diamond plate steel for free to do my entire floor with, then i plan on spraying it with bedliner as well.
I have even used a rubberized metal roof sealing product to just use as a barrier under the full rubber floor mat before and it seemed to work well. Have also used left-over bitchathane or Grace Ice & Water Shield as a sound deadner. Not as good as the real expensive stuff, but some of us have these items in our sheds.
I say, use what ya got and get a little creative. (that's if you got any)
I might be on the far end of the weird spectrum, but I had Buford media blasted both inside and out when I started the project, and then had the floor and the back walls of the cab shot in Line-X bedliner (did the bed too). That way, the product bonded directly with the bare metal, and will serve not only as a corrosion protectant, but also as a sound deadener to some degree. I'm still going to be putting padding and carpet down, but at least I know I won't be dealing with installing new floor pans again anytime soon. I can't speak for other products, but the Line-X has a good textured finish, so even if I left it just like that, it isn't very slippery when wet.
Anyway, it's an option. You just have to make sure you vacuum the inside of the cab approximately 2700 times to get all the media material out.....trust me, I'm still finding that stuff from time to time.
Carpet won't hold water if you don't let it get wet. I use large plastic mats to make sure everything is good and covered where my feet are located.
I used bed liner in a spray can on the floor of my truck before the carpet. I don't remember how many cans I used but it was alot b/c the liner is very thick on there. I first sanded, sanded, then grinded and grinded and finally wire wheel it a million times. I then put on layers of rust converter, scuffed it a little, then bedliner. I think its been three or four months ago. I peeled the carpet back a couple days ago, no rust yet.
