ok well my stock mat is ripped and torn up pretty bad im going to be doing rockers and cab corners along with some rust repair on the floor
but i need to debate options for the floor
a replace with stock mat id like to do this but i dont see spending 100+ on it
b replace with generic carpet but the floor sees a lot of water dirt and grime it is a work truck after all
c bedliner the whole floor id problly use a roll on one to not need to cover everything but i want the sound dedener and all that still but it is the cheapest and any option will have bedliner on the floor under it
how has that automotive carpet help up for everyone? do you guys think floormats would be ok on the carpet?
On my 86, I got carpet out of a 93 or so junker (it was free). I pressure washed it and let it dry then installed. I just threw in some rubber matts on top, the kind with the deepgrooves to hold mud and water. It quieted down the truck and looks great.
thats what i was hoping to hear and it looks like you work that thing hard if its anything like the 2wd
i like the cab fairly quiet but exhaust mad loud
What about go to ur local lows or home depot and get some outdoor or marine carpet u would have to do some trimming and fighting but its easy to clean water resistant and u might be able to buy a remnant piece someone didn't want
i vote for the bedliner or a new piece of the rubber... no matter what kind of carpet it is its going to hold water and your not going to be able to keep all the mud and such in the floormats lol iv'e tried.... ive got a brand new car with the floormats you speak of that i bought and yet i still get crap on my carpet and it really gets on my nerves.... i wouldn't be worried about dirty in a truck but the water + carpet = rust and stink.... even with the bedliner underneath you may not get the rust but you can still get the stink..... i love my rubber floor and if i ever have to replace it it will be with another piece from LMC or bedliner my buddys truck had the carpet and it really was just a mess from day 1 he had it now its changed over to the rubber floor.
you might be able to get that to work but i would go with the bedliner just because it doesn't leave any space between it and the metal flooring for rust to build up from condensation, moisture in between.
