Bama, yours sounds like its doing what mine was doing exactly. It was noisy, so I knew the fan was running at high speed, but I had very little air flow from the vents. I did check under the glove box (you can see the fan if you get in the floorboard and look toward the firewall) just to make sure there was no plastic bag or something blocking airflow from that side. Let me know if I can help.
The fix for LESS air in MAX mode is to reach up under the instrument panel and remove the plastic baggie that got sucked up into the air inlet off the passenger's floor.
But you're right, it probably isn't the solution this time.....

The only digital camera I have is my droid phone, but I can take pics if somebody can tell me how to get 'em on here. The process is easy.
Load the pictures up to tinypic.com. Once it is loaded up, a window will pop up giving you the location of the photo on the web, just copy that, and then click on the insert image icon (little yellow square with mountain) on FTE and paste it there. EZPZ. The pics will help folks.
134A is the original refrigerant in our trucks and that is what I have in mine. It works well enough that I haven't experimented with any other formulations. You can check out the evap core easily enough. Just make sure you have a good flashlight and a decent mirror. Good luck.

Back when I worked in an auto repair shop, a customer came in complaining of weak a/c. I reached under the dash an pulled out a potato chip bag from the recirc air intake. He was happy and mad at the same time. He said he was going to go home and whoop his kids' butts.
