Hi there, do you guy's know what/where to find the reverse signal wire in a 99 f150, 5.4v8, 4x4, lariat. I've had a pioneer avic-n3 in truck for a while and now bought a boyo vtl 420, i just need to find the reverse signal wire, as the installer didn't hook it up, i didn't realize until now. Any help?
I did, that's why I'm asking. 1997 to 2003 usually are identical, maybe even newer ones can be the same. I'm physically challenged, and have to work in short spurts, so if i can find an answer, it'll save me suffering while trying to find it.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks
I have a 2010 F250 XLT CC and I am installing a rear view camera (Audiovox ACA200W) to my Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD head unit in the next day or so. I was preparing to do it today when I realized I don't see a convenient way to get the reverse sensing and signal wires from the frame into the cab. If anyone has done this already, I would appreciate some pointers!
I put a remote lock on the tailgate, and connected to the door lock wires under the drivers threshold panel. to do that I removed the drivers side rear door threshold and drilled a 1/2in hole. then I threaded the tailgate lock wires, the camera feed and the extra camera power lead thru the same hole.. I put a short piece of plastic corrogation in the hole around the wires, and used rtv to seal it.
then I ran the camera wires thru the drivers threshold, up behind the kick panel, in into the front lower edge of the dash.
my camera gets power two ways..
1. from the backup light wire in the left taillight housing area
2. from an upfitter switch.
there is a diode between the upfitter feed and the back light wire, so I don't turn on the backup lights with the switch.
I couldn't find the backup light control wire in the dash area, so this one wire does the head unit back signaling too..
the OEM camera is powered on all the time. and the backup wire turns on the viewer. I turn on the camera each time.
ok. I ended up running the reverse wire off the hitch line. two cloour to choose from the orange which also has 12v when in reverse is the wrong one, i found a small black with grey/gray stripe, and that's the feed i used ran it along the drivers side frame in split loop beside the original loom and the camera cable, the other end plugged into my stereo. I used a rca splitter to feed both my edge programmer and my pioneer avic-n3. So i now have a dual feed thru one camera, one my right is the stereo, and on myu left above the dashboard is the other look real good. Still have a bit more electrical work to do, for the other stuff I'm trying to wrap up before old man snowter shows his face.
