Anyone else had this problem?
While driving, it appears that my overdrive went out. It was working fine, but now it shifts from first to second fine, but with the OD on, it free revs after second. Downshift into second, trans kicks back in. Then, free revs. Turn OD off, and drives like no problem.
My concern is, it threw no codes.
Any help?
BTW, I returned it to stock thinking it may have been the programmer, but that did nothing to help it.
Well, its the trans. Just got the bad news. I knew it all along, just didnt want to think so. The truck only has 106k on it, but it was bought wrecked 11k ago, so the lines may have got something in them.
Yay.
Luckily, I have made friends over the years in this industry, so a rebuild will be much less than even buying a used one. If I wasn't planning on keeping this truck, I would have bit the bullet and spent the $700.00 on a used one.
oldguy4, I will never set foot back in a Stealership again. I sell parts to the local shops here, and that is who will get my money.
You know, I never have had a problem with the guys that work at the dealership, it is just the guys in charge that have turned me off. I used to only use them, when it was something I couldnt do myself, and them alone.
Now, I virtually have friends/customers falling over themselves to help me.
I really should be doing this myself, but my business partner just had his third child, and I dont want to push the boundries with the missus, so I will let my buddies help me out.
Well rebuilds in, and, boy howdy, I think the old trans was going for a while. The F150 will actually get out of its own way now without the programmmer! It's like a whole new truck. I can't believe the difference now. I can't wait to check mpg on this tank, I bet I was losing alot through that old trans.
Thank goodness for good friends/customers!
