Got the new oil cooler screen in there. Got the EGR delete ready to go. My intake manifold is at the machine shop getting a hot bath cleaning. As soon as I get that back, I'll put humpty dumpty back together again.
Any gotchas I should watch out for while putting it all back together? I bagged all the bolts and nuts in separate bags with labels, because I was fairly certain that I would forget where something went after two weeks. Hoping to not have any parts or bolts left over after I put it all together.
Just looking for experience in the EGR realm of any issues or difficulties in getting everything back in working order.
Is so, I purchased that the other day and plan on doing it. The oil pump is opposite the oil cooler, right? Apologize for the stupidity of the question, I just can't find any good instructions on doing that HPOP upgrade as they did not come with any and Haynes is useless.
I'm not sure exactly what the current STC fitting upgrade looks like. Maybe someone can post a picture of it so that you can compare. It's readily available from any ford dealer also.
From what I understand, with the '05 and leaving the EGR valve, you won't have the CEL. Is that incorrect?
You should have a check engine light unless you get custom tunes via SCT. You could get a CEL on the 03 california trucks if you unplug or disable the EGR valve, so be prepared.

If you disconnect the EGR on any CA truck, you will get a constant CEL. Been there, done that! The only ways to make the CEL go away are to reconnect the EGR or SCT custom tunes.
If you have a non-CA truck, I believe you initially get a CEL and the PCM latches the code. If you take a scanner and try to erase the code, the CEL should go out but the code will remain for dealership troubleshooting. SCT custom tunes will also cure any non-CA truck EGR CELs. Since I have a CA X, not sure if this is totally right but 95% sure.
