I have what I believe to be a computer issue. While towing I have no power on throttle response I am in the tow/haul mode. All temps and pressures are fine right where I think they need to be. I had this problem last year and had the computer flashed and it fixed this issue. When not towing its not as bad but 7500# is not behind the truck. Has anyone else had this problem? Is their a after market fix other than going back to Ford for a reflash.
Try disconnecting the batteries for 10 - 20 minutes and turn the light switch on while the batteries are disconnected. This will cause the PCM to go through a "relearn" cycle. Also, have you scanned the truck for trouble codes and have you checked the EGR to see if it needs cleaned? Be sure to check for codes BEFORE you disconnect the batteries or you will erase all, if any, stored codes. Is it blowing any excessive smoke?
It sounds like you have more going on then you think. start with looking at icp voltage and pressures, ipr % hot idle, fuel pressure, ect/eot, fanss/engine rpm, ficm voltage. pull and inspect egr valve.
Not really a computer based issue, the computer doesnt care how much weight you have behind the truck.
Have it scanned first. The factory gauges are nothing but idiot lights with needles. I don't think it's a programming problem at all. Have you ever had your EGR and turbo cleaned, although both of these problems usually cause a lot of smoke vs. no power.
One other thought....it might be a FICM issue. Depending on what flash they put in last year it could have actually killed your FICM.
