Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that at slow speeds whenever I hit a bump I hear a sort of clunk coming from the front end. I decided to check it out today and I think it may be the tie rod. I had someone push the truck back and forth and it seems like the clunk is coming from the tie rod. I tried tightening it because I thought it may be loose but that was no help.
Is this common at all? Also, I think the thing that I was looking at was the tie rod. It had a 4x4 label on it if that clears anything up. I'll probably bring it into the dealer soon and have them check it out since it's under warranty but I thought I'd ask you guys first. Thanks in advance!
Just how do you tighten up a tie rod? If it was the tie rod you are messing with the alignment. If you tightened down the ball joint, one just has to ask, why was it loose? If you are turning on the inner or outer tie rod, you are changing the alignment. Take it to an alignment service center.

Maybe it wasn't the tie rod I was screwing with? There is a bolt on the top and bottom of it. The tie rod end maybe?
Here is a pic of where the noise is coming from. You can't see it from the picture but there are two bolts, one on the top and one on the bottom.
That would initially look like the stabilizer link off the control arm, but mine is nowhere near that heavy. The Haynes manual that I have covers 2006 but only shows the same link as mine.
Sorry, I am at a loss to positively ID that standoff. Maybe someone else can lend some insight and assist with the adjustments you will need.
Would the top part attach to an arm that goes to the other side with a similar link to that control arm?
Yes i did mine when u hear that clunk thats what it is, also let it go longer and your looking at ball joints as well. but i paid extra and got lifetime stabilizer links with there very own grease nipple pay the extra bra
