[quote=hairyboxnoogle;9027264]Also, imho, while nontheless interesting, that video is wrong. That engine grenaded due to overspeed / mechanical failure which likely had nothing to do with the fact the mill was on water/meth. And to go one step farther and directly contradict the dude in the video, water/methanol has zip zero zilch to do with an engine revving too high, that blame lies one hundred percent with the genious behind the wheel. He makes it sound like using water/meth will over-rev the engine.

i would love for you to tell fubar this he knows the most of any powerstroke mechanic ive ever met or seen and he is certified by navistar and went to college for diesel mechanics also so i promise he is right if your gunna talk bout sombody bein wrong tell it to them dont put it on a different website go tell him this and when he gets in over your head explainin it to you maybe you will admit he was wright - not tryin to be A HOLE or nuthin but stuff like this gets under my skin when you say this on here but not to him on his youtube channel or in the comments im just sayin go tell him this and let me know what he teaches you im not afraid to say im a newbie to the idi but i do know a lot more about the 7.3 powerstrokes because thats originally what i was gunna bye but then i fell in love with the old girl here

if it is set up incorrectly or has a system failure it will over rev the engine.kinda like spraying something in the intake as its idling.......

HBNoogle does raise a good point. There are too many variables to simply blame the water meth injection. A properly functioning WM system will not cause catastrophic engine failure like that. What I got from the video, the owner ran the incorrect ratio, or possibly straight methanol which could have created an explosive backfire under the wrong conditions or system failure. This could have caused an overspeed, or a major spike in cylinder pressure which caused the engine failure. FUBAR is quick to blame the use of the system and showed his bias against water meth injection. But it could have easily been driver error.

The only conclusion I have to the video with the methanol being the cause is MAYBE the location of the injection and the amount injected MAY have possibly gave the computer a false reading of intake tempature resulting the computer giving the engine longer duration and larger amount of fuel to compensate for what it thought was a cold engine.
It's a stroke, NOT an IDI. There are ALOT more variables that grenaded that thing that wouldn't pertain to a mechanical IDI.

ya i kno it can be very effective if done correctly but fubar said that this guy had more meth than water thus that incorrect ratio caused the overreving of the motor he never once said that a little bit if in the right ratio was bad he even said that a little was good but to much was bad this guy is tryin to say fubar was toattly wrong and that i kno is wrong cause that was a huge shot of meth going in it was a double shot that is a big one from the research ive done and on stock internals it was to much
