Not a truck question, although it is a Ford diesel. I just bought a restoration project - an old 54' motor launch converted to a motor yacht at some time. It has a Ford straight-6 diesel in it, but I can't see a model plate or a labl on it. I'm going to crawl down into the engine space tomorrow for a better look, but until then, can any diesel fanatic just look at the "from above" pic and recognize what sort of engine it is?
Looks like a Ford Lehman engine to me, from here. I have seen a few, sure not an expert. If I remember right, had a American Bosch FI pump, and were a very simple, basic engine.
IF I remember right, the older inline four was called a "90", and the in-line six was a "120". This referred to the horsepower. Just a wild guess from an old guy....
The Lehman 6's comes in various Cubic Inches and HP ratings, They also come N/A and Turboed, it's been a long time since I've seen or even heard of them!
They used to be very popular generator and pump motors, never seen one in a Marine application.
The word "Lehman" and some googling found an online copy of the owners manual for Ford Lehman marine diesels, from which I was able to determine that the engine's an SP-135, which is the normally aspirated version, sold from 1982 onwards. It also showed me where the data plate should be. Maybe tomorrow I'll find a year and serial number.
