V10 Production.
V10 Production.
Now that the Chebby 8.1 is out of production, what are Ford's plans for the V10? I keep hearing rumors of it's demise from the disappointed Bow-Tie guys.
Thanks

In the light-duty segment (3/4 & 1-ton trucks), the 8.1L has been out of production for several years. But you could still get one in the medium-duty trucks and through specialty vehicles such as RVs.
Ford is following a similar path with the V10. It's no longer being offered in the light-duty trucks, but can still be purchased in the medium-duty line. While I've not researched it any, I suspect the specialty market will also still have a supply for a while.

Not in the one ton pickups, only on the cab and chassis F450-550 and the E250-550.

If we are lucky maybe the V10's will be like the old 351M/400's and gain a lot more popularity in the aftermarket after being discontinued. Well it took the M blocks 20 years hopefully the V10's will be quicker!
The current model has already dropped the V10, the 6.2 is the only gas option, its already like that... Youll have to go for the diesel if you want more torque.
Now for the time being you can still get them in 450& 550 chassis cabs and motorhomes, etc, dont know how long that will last, probably till they run out of their stock. But for us wanting regular pick-em-up trucks, they are since last year.
For me it is an end fo an era... not only the V10 but also ford dropping a manual transmission. Who would ever had thought there would be a day when ford doesnt even offer a stick shift in a pickup truck. I got mine last year so I could get what I wanted before it was gone as you can see in my sig... I'd love to have the new diesel but I aint going to give em that much money for it and also not having a good stick backing it up... nope.
Well, crap.
I'm sure that when it came up, it was a very heated discussion. So, I won't stir it up again here. Just disappointed. Not sure when I'll be looking for a new truck. But with this news, I'll probably drag it out as long as possible. I was hesitant to get the V10 when I first got it, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I love putting that pedal to the floor, hearing all 10 cylinders scream as it pushes past 5K rpm and accelerates several ton, faster than some cars.
Not that I tow a lot, but I doubt the replacement V8 can handle the job as well as the V10. And I would prefer not to pay the "diesel tax". Who knows... maybe the V8 will be better in the long run. (I doubt it)
I doubt I'll have the BSEG as much as I do right now... But I'll sure enjoy it while I still have it!!
