like it say's drove a 6.4 with h&s programing, intake, and straight pipe with duals. All i can say is wow it has so much powed a it is quite even when its straight piped. i might have to sell the 7.3 and call it a day.
I was reading my truck trend magazine, they were comparing the new '11 super duty to a new dodge ram, dyno'ed both, the 6.7 powerstroke is rated for 390hp, rolled out 292hp at the wheels. The dodge is rated 350hp, wheeled 240hp. Doesn't seem like an very efficient drivetrain, I thought they could do better than that.
What surprised me was that the powerstroke's peak torque was at a lower rpm than the cummins.
I also keep hearing that the 6.7 gets great fuel mileage. Maybe you'll have to skip the 6.4 and get a 6.7.
my boss bought a 6.4 work truck and a 6.4 dully to pull the horse trailler. well after 20k on the work truck the exaust pipe has melted the mud flaps on the reading body( i guess beacuse of reburn) and he took it in yesterday for an HPOP already!! guess wellsee what happens witht he dully but sheshh.
ill admit they have power, but once it goes into that reburn no way are you pulling a trailer or getting up hills without getting on it hard.
and the milage...best hes had is 14 unloaded highway. 3.73 gears too at 65..67 MPH

I agree, the 6.4 bone stock is a great performer. I sold mine with only 14,500 miles on the clock. 8 to 9 mpg pulling my 5er and 12 solo on a good day. Intercooler, egr, DPF and radiator all replaced in under 10,000 miles. I found a 2001 7.3 SC long bed
Lariat that does everything I want and gets great fuel mileage. Living in California, I just couldn't see having to deal with all the emissions junk piled on that great engine. The 7.3 is 4" turbo back Diamond Eye nothing but a muffler all legal and still smells like a diesel truck should.

agreed. the 6.4 smells real funny. i love these stories of new disel owners goin back to 7.3's....hey ford wanna make lots of money? put 7.3s in all your new trucks
I was bored today so I called up a Ford dealership and sure enough, they had an '11 PSD on the lot, so we went up and took it for a drive.
B U T T E R smooth ride!!! WOW!!! Pickup was great too (with on 24miles on the clocks!!) but I imagine with that 6 speed transmission there's advantage there too. If I got a good deal on it, I might just be tempted to get a 5R100 behind the 7.3. That turning radius was just ridiculously tight for a CC SB - at least 5' tighter circle than my '99 CC SB. Amazing.
One thing I DIDN'T like... the "cooling" seats make me feel like I had a wet fart in my pants... that was more than just gas!
They kept asking me "so why not just trade in your old truck?" - because it's too awesome to give up, that's why!!
yah my friend is the diesel mechanic at ford and said the new 6.7 is bad ***.
no offense, but that is what everyone said about the 6.blow when it first came out and look how long it lasted, the 6.7 is a huge change in technology and dynamic engine thinking, I hope it proves to be an awesome engine, but I want to see the results after one hits 100k miles.
I've got long legs. I don't like the doors on the 08 & up. The door protrudes too far into the cab so you can't place your left foot flat on the floorboard and lean your leg out as far as you can on our trucks.
Sounds like I'm just being picky, but I put a lot of windshield time in.

I've seen that too in the sales stuff. There are a couple of threads going on in the 6.7 section discussing MPG's. So far it seems better than the 6.4, but that's not saying much. Still waiting for more real world responses to know for sure.

Heated seats I love, but I'm with you on the cooling seats. Besides, a gentle cooling breeze up your behind and a real mans work truck don't exactly sound like they belong in the same sentence.
