Wink 3157 LED bulbs for tail lights??

Looking at swapping to a GOOD QUALITY 3157 LED bulb for my tail lights.
I am wondering if anyone else is using these and what your opinion is and what type & color I should get.
I am seeing them listed with from 18 to 36 LEDs per bulb, and some suggest using a RED colored bulb (in my case) for the tail lights......is this right or would WHITE be better?? Thanks!

36 red for the rear.. amber for the front...
white LED light will make a red lens look orange...
red lens=red LED
amber lens= amber LED
clear lens=what ever color LED you want...
you will need a heavy duty flasher as well.or you blinker's will blink 1,000 flashes per second.

Careful with LED brake lights, they can cause problems if they don't have a built in resistor. The computer gets fussy if it doesn't "see" the right amount of resistance and will mess with torque converter lock up and a few other things.

I was reading anouther thread recently about someone discovering that when they replaced a burned out 3rd brake light that the trans shifted better and the converter lock up was different.
Would I be OK then in just replacing my 2 tail light bulbs with the 36 LED ones and just leave a standard bulb in the 3rd light position?

I had a set of LED's in my tail lights. I bought what I thought were good ones, they were 32 or 36 per bulb and I paid way too much for them, even bought the right resistors. Got them all hooked up and they were nice and bright. They lasted about 5 weeks and the first one burned out, about 2 days later they other one burned out. I switched to a set of 3157 Silver Stars and I love them. They are just as bright as the LED's were and I've had them in for about 6 months now with no issues. They were a lot cheaper too. Just my .02....

All of my extieror lights except fog and headlights are led and have been for the past 80k miles.I use an electronic flasher and have had no issues since installed. It took a while to get the right lic plate bulbs and side markers but they are brighter than incandecent bulbs.

84deisel, that looks great. Wish I had known about the electronic flasher before, might have saved me some headaches.

not recon but similar I got em on fleebay 3 years ago and have not had 1 diode go out on the other hand the screamer led strip on my running board and the top- line of fires both have bad diodes as well as a cheapee 3rd brake light I returned.Btw napa sells the electronic flasher for the sd and it is a direct plug in but a little taller so the cover wont fit on and they work great with regular incandecent bulbs as well for around $15 around me.

Any chance you have that part number for the electronic flasher?

Ron if you could give me some source info on the LED's I'd be much obliged. Removed my 3rd brake light assembly today and found 2 cooked bulbs.

Platinumpete: I actually bought the Silverstar 3156s for the b-u lamps, haven't installed them yet, I think I'll get the 3157s and call it good after all the stuff about the LEDs, relays, different flashers, ect-I think that will be fine for me.
Thanks to all that replied and for the pics!! -Rick
