what year truck? i used a right angle pick to slip into the back to release it. get a cheap pick and awl set like below or find something similar. They stink to take off!
just release the spring with a small angled tool like i suggested (no offence Virto) and save yourself the headache of glue and removing the glued on **** later... not hard just have to feed the tool into the backside of the ****...
If you look up under the articles and pull up the one about switching gauge clusters in 92+ broncos, you'll see it there.
My spring clip was rusted onto the switch post, and wouldn't move. The old plastic gave out first.
As for the tank selection switch, the two screws that hold it into the back of the cluster surround are very shallow, and the plastic is brittle, especially when it's this old. I pushed the switch one day and it went right into the dash. I used some self tapping screws to get it back into place.
Well used a really fine hex key probabblt didn't do it right so the switch didn't come off. The tank switch is broke So can't fix it today anyway. Will go get some epoxy and give it a whirl tomorrow
