Any body have a suggestion as to removing the front license plate bracket on an 05 SCrew Lariat. I really don't have a desire to destroy it as I may have to put it back on.
Thank you Jeannie, but that won't do. I had a "Billett" grille installed in the lower portion and given the expense, I'd like to "show it off". I do have "vanity plates", They read "POTE10" as I am the Potentate for Aahmes Shriners this year.
07, I removed two bolts, it "unsnapped" and came off easy. I replaced that plastic thing with acustom built one of heavy "road sign" type material. Buddy at shop had some old ones they had removed, stuff has some other material in it besides aluminum which makes it very stiff.
tbear, thanks for the reply. Here in California, we too, are supposed to have the front plate. Some vehicles such as Corvettes don't have them. Thats why I didn't want to destroy the bracket taking it off. I may grt told to put it back. It appears that it's "sandwiched" between the upper and lower bumper parts. I guess I'll need to crawl under there and see if I remove a couple bolts and not the whole thing.
I fliped mine over so I could put a lower speed grill to match my main grill.
If I remember right, the top of the LP mount clips over the bumper & the lower part is sandwiched between the bumper & lower valance. I loosed the screws (10mm I think) on eather side of the plate bracket and pulled it out. hope this helps.
If you do destroy the bracket, it is only like 15 bucks from a ford dealer. I had to buy one as my truck came without one. The bottom two clips act as a "barb" as you would see on a fish hook. You have to push up from the bottom to release the "barb". Once released you can just lift the whole assembly off of the mounts where it touches the front bumper. It goes on easy, in fact i was worried that it would fall off. So far I havent seen it happen yet...
Thanks for all the input. There were 3 bolts/screws, 8mm. Loosened them, and used a large blade screw driver to seperate the lower skirt from the bumper, just a little. All finished and nothing destroyed. Thanks again.
