Push in on the line as you wiggle the tool in, that should help....

Yep, it could be rust!! Drown it in PB Blaster for a day or two just in case.. But if you pull on the line before the garter spring is released it will just get tighter...

I had the same problem on mine sprayed a little PB blaster in there and then placed the tool in the fitting and used a screw driver behind it to get more pressure and it came off. Took a little bit.

I change a couple a day. Use some lubricant, a blast of compressed air will also free any debris from the "quick" coupler. Place the tool in position and pull the line toward the fuel filter while using a screwdriver to press the tool inside the coupler. You will feel the tool release the retaining clips inside the coupler and then push the tool and coupler away from the filter.

Hope this helps.

Fuel Filter and Line Replaced!!!!

I came to the conclusion after trying everything that I could to use a tubing cutter on fuel line before braided line in front and behind filter. Went to Pick-A-Part and found a 95 F-150 and cut the line in front of fuel filter and at the Y at front tank. Came hm and lowered the tank some and used a compression fitting from hardware store on the metal fuel lines to put back together!! I bought new retainers that go inside factory junk conectors at Auto-zone! By adding the longer line at back that I got at the bone yard, it pushed the filter forward where in the future if gives me problems changing filter it is easier to get to and if need be I can take loose at couplers and change on bench!!! Does anybody see any reason why this would not be safe? I drilled new holes in frame to mount the old filter bracket. Those retainers in old connector were bent by previous owner and thats why I could not use the tool to get it off, I quess plus **** poor design and location. Thanks for your help!!!!
