2001 PATS system

Ford passive anti-theft Systems (PATS)

2001 Ford F150 2wd
5.4 Triton V-8
57063 Miles

If the PATS system has lost it programming will the engine spin over but never crank due to the lack of fuel, It will attempt to start with a minimal blast of starting fluid.

Also will the possibility of the PATS system loosing program hide to say the odometer reading {"-------"(this is all i see)}

If PATS disables starting, the THEFT light will be flashing rapidly.

An odometer reading of all dashes is often a sign that the PCM has lost power (which will ALSO show as a PATS fault).

Observe your CEL during prove-out. If it fails to come on, you have lost PCM power.

The CEL stays on the entire time. I also have a Viper alarm system on the truck with remote start. My guy came by last night and unhooked the PKall and disabled the viper from the truck with no improvement. I even had a locksmith come by and check the programming on my keys with no improvment. The theft light is steadily flashing. Also if you check my other post I have a little more info.

it could possibly be a short which caused the system to forget the PATS configuration. Run the system on battery and attempt an obd2 scan

A couple of comments:
If the motor will fire with fluid introduced into the intake, the PAT is not stopping (inhibiting) the PCM from working.
You can not make the motor run by attempting to bypass the PATS.
Reason is the PATS sets a bit on the bus to set a bit in the PCM program to allow starting.
If it is not there, no start! This is your theft protection and very hard to defeat making aftermarket alarms un needed.
The PATS "Marries the PCM" by code so cannot be seperated or replaced and still work unless reprogrammed, keys and all.
BTW an engine turning over with the starter is "Cranking" over same as spinning over..
Good luck.

is the alarm connected to the same fuse relay as the PATS?
